what's left behind...

after a melanoma is removed there's always a scar left behind.  And an image used for an old sun safety awareness capaign sprang to mind:

From memory, the melanoma on the surface was a small dot but to remove the underlying aggressive lesion they themselves had to be aggressive.  What scared me at the time was not the cosmetic implications skin cancer (although i think this worked on many teen viewers) but the fact that a melanoma can look so small and yet be so far reaching without you even knowing.

I have always found photos highlighting 'imperfections' beautiful and it also has inspired my designs:

These scar images inspire gathers and twists in the fabric that i think would work well with the stretch fabric I'm using in the dancewear range.
